The Mini-Cooper rental has a 1.6 liter, 97.5
cubic inch, 16 valve engine. This type of
engine offers an inline 4-cylinder
configuration, which allows for a more
effiecient fuel economy.
The modern 4-cylinder engines in the
Mini-Cooper rental frequently match and
often even exceed the horsepower of
conventional 6-cylinder engines, while
at the same time delivering a much more
economic full efficiency. There are 115
horsepower available at 6000 rpm,
compared to the previous 34 horse powers
in the older Mini-Cooper rentals. The
transmission is a five speed manual with
overdrive and front wheel drive. The
Mini-Cooper has sport ride suspension,
complete with front independent and
strut suspension. Both the front and
rear shocks on the Mini-Cooper rental
are gas pressurized to ensure a smooth
ride, while the back is also equipped
with multi-link suspension to increase
control over steering and permit more
versatile control.
The outside of the Mini
Cooper is its most distinctive feature.
Sculpted lights and hood accompany the
wide bulldog stance, and other features
include speed sensitive wipers, and the
"open wide" doors and tailgate. Offering
a lot more power than the original 34hp,
the new engine in the Mini Cooper is a
4-cyl DOHC 1.6-liter with 115 hp at 6000
rpm and 110 lb-ft of torque at 4500.
Standard equipment includes a 5-speed
manual transmission but also available
it the Continuously Variable Timing
(CVT) equipped automatic transmission.
With CVT an optimum use of available
power means that it is right there when
you need it, regardless of your speed.
